Date of internship
Feb – March 2007
Why did you come to Eastside?
After 3 years in the public sector I joined Eastside to develop my understanding of business and the complex challenges faced by start up organisations. I am actively seeking work in Corporate Responsibility and was attracted to Eastside because of their focus on supporting social enterprise. I also felt it would provide useful knowledge to help me manage a charity I recently established.
Highlights of the internship?
I think the biggest strength is the diversity of tasks interns are asked to undertake. I was exposed to numerous businesses and entrepreneurs and worked on two live projects that provided me with practical business experience. Responsibilities included interviewing potential clients to determine the strength of their business models, undertaking preliminary research for feasibility studies, gaining experience with financial modelling and drafting a concept note on a project for submission to investors. Overall, I was made extremely welcome by all the Eastside team and felt my contributions were highly valued.
