Places for People have asked Eastside to find the best partner to run a new horticultural project that will in time develop into a fully sustainable social enterprise.
Places for Poeple are regenerating an old garden nursery based near Chorley, Lancashire. They will cover the business insurances and rentals for the site that they own and make a long term commitment to the project. There is also investment to cover some direct costs care of the Big Lottery over the first few years.
The aim is to run a social enterprise venture staffed by a small team of full-time workers and supported by a volunteer programme. The programme will offer opportunities to local people suffering from learning difficulties to get involved in horticultural activities.
There have already been a few expressions of interest and the aim is the have a partner in place by December 2008.
